In an attempt to stay more active and at the same time make sure the content that I talk about grabs your attention, I hope? I’m doing something that I don’t think I’ve done yet here and that is to post back to back. Now staying active is the key to drawing attention to my website, so therefore my message. It also forces me to follow along with some habits that I wish to improve, i.e. writing more and being sure to include some thought provoking or interesting stories. A story with meaning and something I can relate to is what I’m looking for when browsing through the book store, or surfing the internet for information say on places to travel or the latest cancer treatments and of course the newest camping and fishing gear.
Now I’m hoping in turn that by posting much more regularly, A..you’ll still read and B… it helps me keep up with some of those habits I want to develop that sometimes keep falling by the wayside. By doing this I plan on opening up my platform here and discuss many other topics besides just cancer, but being sure to always touch back on that main topic. In order for me to do this I have started to either take notes in my phone, but being more of a pen and paper guy I have started to carrying a small notepad with me. The joy and freedom of expression that comes from writing is still new to me and although I have more than a hundred posts being creative doesn’t come naturally, so although the posts may take say ten minutes to read I have sat here more than a few hours.
Writing has not only helped me in my ongoing recovery from Cancer it has helped me fill that gap in my life and helps answer the question, “What do I do with my life now?” I have talked with may others over the past years affected by cancer and that by far is the resounding question that is put out there? To which there really is no one answer for everybody, everyone is in a different stage of life. We all have different personalities and what works for one person won’t for the next. My advice is pretty simple, do what you love, which produces a lot questions itself, “What do I Love to do?” We have been so programmed to go through life like it’s been laid out for us. Go to school, get a job, get a house, married and so forth (you get the picture). For many people this works well and there is nothing wrong with it, for many years I was very content in that lifestyle. It’s when life throws a you curveball that makes you look back and reflect on past choices, also forcing you to open up and embrace that change needed to make the most of what yet’s to come.
I still get up everyday thinking of what I love to do, what I want to accomplish and it’s a very tough question to answer. I hope that by writing (almost) everyday helps me figure that part out, along with that feeling of being productive and still needed. To share a story of HOPE and giving the audience something to think about and keep coming back wanting more. As I wrap up here and head over to my pillow for my ten minutes of mindfulness, then some lunchtime Spanish lesson (yes I’m trying). I really hope to have some interesting content from travels this winter coming up. I going to continue to ask myself what I love to do and I’m sure it will change over time, I encourage you to do the same. I don’t want to leave anything on the table and wish I’d done that before it’s too late, too many times I have seen this happen.
So above is one of the things I love to do, creating videos to share the experience is something new and holy time consuming. In a past post I shared about a trip with my youngest and above is a small glimpse into it, now I lost some footage due to the fact that my mic wasn’t plugged in properly. So, note to self check all the electronics before grabbing that footage. I hope you enjoy and consider subscribing to my YouTube channel as well, wishing you all the best everyday….Steve
