A Reminder to Always Check In on the Past

I have lately been going through some of my journal entries, writings and general thoughts I choose to write down along the way during my post-cancer life. Reading some of them is difficult, but remind me why I picked up a pen in the first place. A way to track my emotional, physical and mental well being along the way. A lot of these whether It’d be stories, poems or lists are from my first year, before I started to write this blog. This is one of these lists…like a to do list and a very simple one at that. My goal here is to share this with you and make you think about choices, life and what really matters. It even has a very simple title…

To Me

  • – I’m not dying from cancer, but learning to live and thrive with it
  • – check in with my sons and ask them how their really feeling
  • – just be happy
  • -meditate and smile
  • – remember to breath / stress less
  • – tomorrow is no guarantee, fill each day with love and kindness
  • – stand firm and stare down dangers, live out of your comfort zone
  • – take in the journey, it’s the best part of the adventure and ending comes soon enough
  • – life has changed and my cancer hates it when I’m happy and well
  • – able to push myself like I never thought possible
  • – a reminder that tomorrow can/will be a better day
  • – listen be present for family and friends
  • – find what you love to do and then never stop searching
  • – hug that special someone

As I write these down I find myself realizing that there is a lot of work to do and that I should read this list as a daily reminder of who and what I want to be and accomplish. I’m very far off from following my own advice, hence this is the reason I dig back in my work books and want to keep myself accountable. You may have your own list, just don’t be hard on yourself when you slip. It’s a difficult practice to change the way you think, your mindset wants the easy way out and to train it new things takes a lot of repetition and many failures. But, to fail is to try…I wish you all good luck and feel free to use my list as a template and make your life better and happier, everything YOU wanted. I hope you get something out of this and please consider subscribing, leave me a comment and like. As usual I’ll leave you a link to my YouTube channel.
