Introduction

Yup, that’s me in the picture doing one of my past times I love the most, back-country camping. I always considered myself just an ordinary type, healthy guy, I have two handsome and intelligent sons. Then on April 9, 2020 I received a phone call that will forever change my life, “Mr.Medhurst you have Stage IV Neuroendricine Cancer, you have 10-15 years to live…..

My blog may not be like others you have read in the past, they say to pick a “niche” and stick closely to one subject, well mine won’t read like that, so bare with me please. My introduction will give you an overview for the main subject I will be writing about. The story may bounce around a bit as its already been a year and I’ll be playing catch up. Before I get into the story let me tell you why I chose to start this blog. I was reading a book one day and came across a quote that hit very close to home after the year I had. The quote said, ” Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what you love to do and go do it, the world needs people who love what they do.” I thought for weeks about that, every run I took, camping trip I planned or just sitting at home it was on my mind. Then one day I was journaling and it was looking right back me, writing, I actually love to write, so why not start with a blog? I hope everyone who reads this gets something out of it. This is my first attempt at laying it all out there as far as my life goes and I truly hope that I can help somebody else and help raise some awareness of this rare disease that I carry around with me and will until I have finally reached my finish line, but not yet I have a lot to say and a lot of life to live yet, so let’s get started.

The main subject of this will be my life moving forward as a neuroendricine cancer patient, my victories and setbacks. This will include my hobbies as mentioned above, back country camping as well as running. I will also get into my exercise routine and new diet plan. I look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to comment and reach out to me. Part of this is to also help me start a conversation with people I don’t know and learn new things, basically I’m hoping to become a better human being….Enjoy!!!

Life is too Short, Live Hard.
