Hey Everyone I’m Still Here!!

Hello again everybody yes I’m still here and ready to get the blog rolling again after nearly a month layoff. As like most of of I have grand ideas of writing all the time and being as busy here as possible, after all consistency is the key, at least when it come to algorithms… haha never really cared about that. I would however like this blog to reach more people to possibly help those maybe stuck in a rut, or having a tough time in life whether it being a cancer diagnosis or really any kind of hardship that life has thrown your way. I say this as I refer back to my post a while back about a breakdown I had and think about all those other people who may not have a support system to rely on, that is where I am very fortunate. Even still now regardless of what my social media posts may suggest, such as a great and happy life, there are still many times I sit alone in my thoughts and go to dark places. It’s the way life is, it’s not supposed to be easy and struggling through parts of it only makes my (your) wins that much sweeter. I have to be mindful everyday remembering that even the simplest tasks can be meaningful, a quiet walk in the morning, watching a loved one from a distance just enough to catch their eye. Playing and petting with your pets can be calming and help to calm that overactive mind, it is a difficult task and one easily forgotten in todays busy world full of uncertainty and basically bad news around ever corner or any media outlet. Hence the reason I unplug and get back to nature when the time allows. Regardless of all its challenges life is truly a gift and one that needs to be explored, in many different ways.

As I said the past month was full from waiting on doctors appointments and results, which you all know turned out in my favour for now although that being said I know now that Radiation or some other type of treatment is probably closer than further away at this point in the journey. My regular treatments of Sandostatin injections has been a bit tougher on me lately, pain from the needles lasts longer and the fatigue is more prevalent for a few days after. I also had the regular CAT scan last week and will get the results next week, so as I write this my camping gear is loaded and as you read this I’ll be starting a week long trek back up in the Temagami region, returning in time to get the results, then hopefully getting away again back to Algonquin for a late September trip before trout season comes to an end.

I have been putting work into my YouTube channel trying to get it rolling, it’s just as hard as a blog to get viewership and subscribers, but once again consistency is the one key thing and my bad habit of procrastinating doesn’t help. I do have my latest video posted from our annual guys week trip we took mid August into the heart of Temagami and went chasing waterfalls, it was epic and I’ll include the link below. The month was topped off by headed out to Edmonton, Alberta to visit my brother and his family and to catch Metallica’s M72 tour. My little brother bought me the tickets a year ago for my fiftieth and while all the gifts at the time and my memory barely allows me to remember what I did get. This will be one gift I will never forget, not only the concert, but spending it with my brother who I don’t get to see that often and of course visiting with my sister-in-law and my two beautiful nieces, or family used to be full of nothing but boys until about five years ago. Those moments are the mental pictures I’ve talked about and I was able to take many and store them away.

Above is a link to my fundraising page, I hope it works this platform didn’t want to seem to accept this link. Our group is fundraising on behalf of our former leader Vanessa, who lost her battle with cancer almost a year ago now. As most of you know I have taken the position and now hope to bring some awareness to this disease, we have lost quite a few of good people this year and it does weigh heavily on all of us with a connection to CNETS. So, although I know times are not easy right now I ask if you can to donate to a worthy cause, we are completely 100% volunteered based and receive no other funding from bigger organizations…anything will help. Thanks!

I have some other exciting news to share and will be bringing that to you in upcoming posts. What? I can’t give everything up in one post, lol. I hope you’re all having a great end of summer and remember that fall is the best time of the year. I plan on making the most of it. Check out my latest video and all the others, hope you subscribe, comment and like both my YouTube channel and of course this blog. It won’t end til I do! Cheers, Steve
